Artist Statement - John M. Robertson, MD
I am inspired by faith and science and by the intersection of the infinite with the finite that is Christ. I have always felt a need to create art and pursue knowledge. In this, I am imitating my Creator and learning about His Creation. Religion and science ask the only two important questions: “why” and “how”, respectively. Through my art, I explore possible answers.
My work attempts to realize itself as a marriage of form and meaning, as both conceptual and post-contemporary.
I am also a pediatric pulmonologist practicing in Houston, Texas.

The (“JR squared”) logo
My wife, Julie, and I share the same initials. She supports and is a part of everything I do. So, when signing a piece, I include her initials alongside mine, "JR squared", in a design that incorporates a cross representing our common Christian faith.
